A Message From My Heart

Message from my heartDear Friend,

You have made it to this page where I would like to share with you from my heart. Please take a few minutes to read and consider this message that can lead you to everlasting life, as it also has me.

It was a sunny day in the early 1970's as my father and I traveled home to the small farming town of Maxwell, Iowa. I can still recall the words which my father shared with me; a message contained in the Sacred Scripture of John chapter three and verse sixteen in the Bible.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Everlasting LifeIt was on that day that God, through my father's words, revealed His great love for the world and for me in that He gave His one and only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die on a cross for my sins. I received "everlasting life" that day, forgiveness of my sins, and peace with God, simply by believing in Him Who loved me and gave Himself for me at Calvary.

Isaiah 53:12

Hebrews 9:22

Luke 23:42

At Calvary? Yes, this was a hill outside the north gate of Jerusalem (then under Roman rule) to which condemned criminals were led to be executed by crucifixion. Jesus Christ, the holy Son of God was numbered with the transgressors, led to this hill (also called "Golgotha" meaning, The place of a skull), and was nailed to a rugged Roman cross.

On His right hand was a convicted criminal, and another on His left hand. These two criminals were dying for crimes they had committed, but He that was on the middle cross, by God's design, was dying for the sins of the world. Without the shedding of His innocent blood there could be no forgiveness for God's sinful humankind. The Bible accurately records the events of that day, nearly two thousand years ago, when the guilty criminal on Jesus' right hand pleaded, "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom." The loving Savior replied, "Verily I say unto thee, Today you shall be with me in paradise." On the basis of simple belief in Him, the Lord Jesus Christ gave the promise of eternal life to that poor dying criminal that day, and that day welcomed him into Paradise.

Hebrews 9:27

Revelation 20:15

What about the criminal hanging on the left hand of Christ? Sadly, He rejected the only One who could have saved his soul for eternity. He died in his sin and guiltiness, was judged before the holy and righteous God, and today is forever lost in a dreadful place the Bible calls "hell."

Romans 6:23

1 Peter 1:18-19

Stepping back to take another look, there were three crosses on Golgotha's hill that day. Upon the middle cross was the loving God's gracious provision for the sins of the world: His own dear Son. This was the unspeakable gift from God that brings eternal life to mankind through Christ's precious blood that was shed. To the right of Christ was a sinful man who believed and was saved by God's grace. To the left of Christ was a sinful man who died in his sins because of his disbelief. These three crosses picture the world today. All have sinned and all stand guilty before God. But God has provided for Himself a full payment for the sins of the world through the shed blood of his own Son on the middle cross. Two groups of people exist today from God's perspective:

  1. Sinners who repent, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved (represented by the man hanging at the right hand of Christ).
  2. Sinners who neither repent nor believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and are lost for all eternity to come (represented by the man hanging at the left hand of Christ).

1 John 5:12

John 14:6

Dear friend, which man represents you? The man on the left, or the man on the right? Are you with Christ or without Him? Jesus said, "I AM the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, except by me." Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved!

Revelation 1:18

Hebrews 1:3

The story does not end there! Christ died, was buried, and on the third day after, God raised Him from the dead. Christ later revealed Himself saying, "I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore." Christ Jesus the Lord is alive today and is seated at the right hand of God the Father in heaven.

Revelation 3:20

If you have read through this page and it speaks to your heart, perhaps it is the Lord Jesus knocking at the door of your heart. I urge you to respond to His call. Open the door of your heart and receive Him as your Savior and you will be saved for all eternity. Don't put Him off. Respond to Him today!
